thishospital.Thepreoperativelocalizationof9caseswereachievedbyoneortwononinvasivetechniquesincludingultrasonography,computedtomography,colorDopplerimagingand99mTcMIBIscintigraphy.Parathyroidectomyweredonesuccessfullyin10of11caseswiththepathologicalresultsofadenomain10casesandonenormalparathyroid.Theauthorsemphasize①earlyrecognitionanddiagnosiswhichcanbehelpedbythenoninvasivetechniquesmentionedaboveforlocalization,②familiaritywiththelocalanatomyespeciallyfortheectopicparathyroidtogetherwithfrozensectionbiopsyduringoperation,and③intensivemedicalcareaftersurgeryandfollowupsoastoheightenthecapacityofdiagnosisandtreatmentofthisdisease.
