ObjectiveTo provide reference for major hospital operating room management in China by summarizing the main results from articles involving cancellation of elective operations. MethodsWe systematically searched PubMed, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, VIP and Wanfang databases up to January 31, 2016. The main results of eligible articles were described. ResultsA total of 37 articles were included, one of which was not included for further qualitative analysis due to low quality. The research type of included studies were retrospective studies and prospective studies accounting for 62.16% and 27.03%, respectively. The research object and rate of cancelled operation were varied among studies (0.15%-40.80%). The causes of cancellation were divided into hospital-related factors, staff-related factors and patient-related factors. ConclusionsThe cancellation of elective surgery is an important influence factor for the quality of healthcare. Identifying avoidable areas and proposing relative suggestions are aimed to decrease the rate of cancellation.
ObjectiveTo investigate the mid-to-long term quality of life (QOL) and influencing factors in the patients after heart valve replacement.MethodsConvenient sampling method was used to recruit 224 patients who had heart valve replacement surgery in our hospital from June 2008 to June 2017. There were 63 males and 161 females, aged 18-83 (51.49±10.60) years. General information questionnaire and MOS SF-36 scale were used to collect data. Univariate analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were used to analyze and determine the influencing factors for the QOL.ResultsThe total score of QOL of 224 patients was 71.78±17.60 points. All these scores of the patients were significantly lower than those of the general population of Chengdu (P<0.05) except the dimension of vitality. The QOL scores differences between sex, marital status, family income, working condition, the occurrence of anticoagulant complications and other complications were significant (P<0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that family income, working condition, the occurrence of anticoagulant complications and other complications could be included in the regression model, explaining 26.8% of total variance. ConclusionThe mid-to-long term QOL is lower in the patients after heart valve replacement. Family income, working condition, anticoagulant complications and other complications are the main influencing factors for mid-to-long term QOL for patients after heart valve replacement.
ObjectiveTo summarize and share the surgical nursing experiences for hybrid procedures in the treatment of congenital heart disease with diminished pulmonary blood flow and aortopulmonary collateral arteries (APCA). MethodWe retrospectively analyzed the clinical data, including nursing problems, interventions and outcomes, of 15 patients with congenital heart disease with diminished pulmonary blood flow and APCA treated between May 2011 and February 2012. ResultsAll operations were completed successfully with effective nursing interventions. No complications like low cardiac output syndrome, lung over-perfusion, vital organ dysfunction, neuropsychological disorder, or systemic infection were noticed. ConclusionsHybrid procedure in the treatment of congenital heart disease with diminished pulmonary blood flow and APCA with complex surgical procedures, intraoperative variables and high surgical risks requires multi-disciplinary collaboration. Effective surgical nursing intervention is important to ensure the successful completion of surgery, and reduce possible complications.
