Objective To investigate the relationship between adipocyte fatty acid binding protein ( A-FABP) and obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome ( OSAHS) . Methods A total of 120 patients were recruited and underwent polysomnography. The groups were allocated according severity of OSAHS and obesity. Plasma A-FABP ( ng/mL) levels were measured by ELISA. The associations between A-FABP and AHI, BMI, LSaO2 , MSaO2 , neck collar, waist /hip ratio, insulin resistance index were analyzed. Results Plasma A-FAPB levels were significantly higher in the OSAHS group than in the non-OSAHS group of same weight, independent of age and gender. In the non-OSAHS group and the severe OSAHS group, plasma A-FABP levels of obesity persons were significantly higher than those without obesity, independent of age and gender. Plasma A-FAPB level was positively correlated with AHI, BMI, insulin resistance index, neck collar, SLT90% , and waist/hip ratio, but negatevely correlated with LSaO2 and MSaO2 in the OSAHS group. In the non-OSAHS group, plasma A-FAPB level was positively correlated with BMI and insulin resistance index. Conclusions Plasma A-FABP level is higher in patients with severe OSAHS. Plasma A-FABP level is positively correlated with BMI and insulin resistance index both in OSAHS and non-OSAHS patients.
We proposed a new deep learning model by analyzing electroencephalogram signals to reduce the complexity of feature extraction and improve the accuracy of recognition of fatigue status of pilots. For one thing, we applied wavelet packet transform to decompose electroencephalogram signals of pilots to extract the δ wave (0.4–3 Hz), θ wave (4–7 Hz), α wave (8–13 Hz) and β wave (14–30 Hz), and the combination of them was used as de-nosing electroencephalogram signals. For another, we proposed a deep contractive auto-encoding network-Softmax model for identifying pilots' fatigue status. Its recognition results were also compared with other models. The experimental results showed that the proposed deep learning model had a nice recognition, and the accuracy of recognition was up to 91.67%. Therefore, recognition of fatigue status of pilots based on deep contractive auto-encoding network is of great significance.
【Abstract】 Objective To investigate the cl inical effect of transplanting by auto-fat granule injection for mastatrophy post suckl ing. Methods From March 2000 to June 2006, 73 patients(146 breasts ) with mastatrophy post suckl ing were treated by transplanting auto-fat granule. The mastatrophy occurred between ages 28 and 52 years with a median of 37 years post suckl ing. The breasts shrank and their elasticity decreased gradually within 2-10 years post suckl ing. The autofat granule was obtained by l iposuction with syringe from patient’s abdomen, waist, buttocks and thighs, etc. After repeated wash and purification, the auto-fat granule was transplanted into the interspace behind the breast by injection. The quantity of auto-fat granule was 50-100 mL in each side of breast per transplantation at 3-6 months intervals, and the whole course of treatment needed 2-6 transplantations. Results The incisions in all cases healed primarily postoperatively. In 73 cases, 65 were followed up from 6 months to 3 years post operation. All patients had a significant improvement in their breast size and shape postoperatively and their breasts were soft and natural in appearance and feel. All of them had more perfect arcuation ofphysique and body with strengthened self-confidence, rel ieved mood and improved qual ity of l ife. However, small indurations were found sporadically in 7 cases (10 breasts) within 2-7 months, and calcifications in 5 cases (8 breasts) within 9-14 months post the first operation. Conclusion The transplantation by auto-fat granule injection for mastatrophy post suckl ing is an effective and practical method. The surgical technique is well worth performing in cl inical practice.
The mechanical properties of nitinol iliac vein stent (NIVS) have been studied by many scholars at home and abroad, but the study on the mechanical properties of iliac vein stent under different release scales has not been reported yet. Based on the finite element analysis method, the mechanical properties of three self-developed NIVS were studied to reveal the influence of stent diameters (12, 14, 16 mm) and different release scales (80%, 90%) on its strength, fatigue life and vein wall biomechanical properties. With an increases in the release scales, the equivalent elastic strain, fatigue strength safety factors, and vessel wall equivalent stress exhibited a downward trend, while the most stressed cross-section coincided with the arc of stent-connecting rods. Through 30, 60 and 90 days’ animal test, a narrowed vascular model was established in the iliac veins of 12 pigs, and the developed iliac vein stents were implanted to comprehensively evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the stent, and at the same time the mechanical properties of stents were verified to provide important reference for the type inspection and clinical trials of follow-up products.
Objectives To explore the quality of the reporting of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS).Methods We searched the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Clinical Trials (CENTRAL) (The Cochrane Library, Issue 4, 2006), PubMed, EMbase, the Chinese Biomedical Database (CBMdisc), VIP Information, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) (from establishment to February 2007). We also checked the reference lists of included studies. The quality of the reporting of RCTs was assessed using the 22-item checklist of the CONSORT Statement and other self-established criteria. Results Thirty-eight RCTs were included. The word “randomization” was not present in any of the trials, and only 17 reports used a structured abstract. All trials did not report the scientific background and the rational for the trial, the estimation of the necessary sample size, the methods of allocation concealment and blinding, participant flow chart, ITT analysis, and ancillary analyses. Some authors misunderstood the diagnostic criteria and inclusion criteria, some selected inappropriate control interventions, and some did not clearly describe their statistical methods or used incorrect methods. All 38 trials reported positive outcomes, few reported adverse effects. No report included a general interpretation of the new trial’s results in the context of current evidence in their discussion section, and none mentioned the limitations of the study, the clinical and research implications or the external validity of the trial findings. Conclusion The overall reporting quality of RCTs of TCM for CFS is poor. Defects are found in each section of the reports. Researchers and journal editors should learn and use the principles and methods of evidence-based medicine—especially the use of a transparent prospective clinical trial register and the CONSORT Statement—to improve the design, conduct and report TCM trials.
This study aims to optimize surface electromyography-based gesture recognition technique, focusing on the impact of muscle fatigue on the recognition performance. An innovative real-time analysis algorithm is proposed in the paper, which can extract muscle fatigue features in real time and fuse them into the hand gesture recognition process. Based on self-collected data, this paper applies algorithms such as convolutional neural networks and long short-term memory networks to provide an in-depth analysis of the feature extraction method of muscle fatigue, and compares the impact of muscle fatigue features on the performance of surface electromyography-based gesture recognition tasks. The results show that by fusing the muscle fatigue features in real time, the algorithm proposed in this paper improves the accuracy of hand gesture recognition at different fatigue levels, and the average recognition accuracy for different subjects is also improved. In summary, the algorithm in this paper not only improves the adaptability and robustness of the hand gesture recognition system, but its research process can also provide new insights into the development of gesture recognition technology in the field of biomedical engineering.
Objective To investigate the effect of chondroitinase ABC (ChABC) on the expression of growth associated protein 43 (GAP-43) and gl ial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) after spinal cord injury (SCI) in rats. Methods A total of 150 adult female SD rats, weighing 250-300 g, were randomly divided into ChABC treatment group (group A), sal ine treatment group (group B), and sham operation group (group C) with 50 rats in each group. In groups A and B, the rats were made the SCI models and were treated by subarachnoid injection of ChABC and sal ine; in group C, the rats were not treated as a control. At 1, 3, 7, 14, and 21 days after operation, the Basso, Beattie, and Bresnahan (BBB) score system was used toevaluate the motion function, and immunofluorescent histochemical staining was used to observe the expressions of GAP-43 and GFAP. Results At different time points, the BBB scores of groups A and B were significantly lower than those of group C (P lt; 0.05); there was no significant difference in BBB score between groups A and B after 1, 3, and 7 days of operation (P gt; 0.05), but the BBB score of group A was significantly higher than that of group B after 14 and 21 days of operation (P lt; 0.01). At different time points, the GAP-43 and GFAP positive neurons of groups A and B were significantly higher than those of group C (P lt; 0.05). After 14 and 21 days of operation, the GAP-43 positive neurons of group A were more than those of group B (P lt; 0.01). After 7, 14, and 21 days of operation, the GFAP positive neurons of group A were significantly less than those of group B (P lt; 0.01). Conclusion ChABC can degrade gl ial scar, improve the microenvironment of the injured region and enhance the expression of GAP-43, which promotes axonal growth and extension.
Objective To evaluate the tissue response induced by three kinds of bone transplantation materials implanted in rat so as to provide proper evidence for their cl inical appl ication. Methods Thirty-six healthy mature Sprague- Dawly mice, weighing from 229 g to 358 g, were randomly assigned to groups A and B (n=18). Three kinds of materials wereimplanted into muscles of rats. Calcium sulfate (CS) granular preparations and allogeneic demineral ized bone matrix (DBM) were transplanted into the left (group A1) and right (group A2) thigh muscle pouches of group A. Respectively, whereas xenogenic DBM were transplanted into the left (group B1) thigh muscle pouches of group B and the right (group B2) sites were taken as control without implant. The samples (n=6) were collected to make the observation of gross and histology and to analyze histological score after 2, 4, and 6 weeks. Results The gross observation: implanted materials were gradually absorbed at late stage in group A1. No obvious degradation and absorption, but fibrosis of tissues were observed in group A2 and B1. The inflammatory reactions were more severe in groups A2 and B1. In group B2, only the changes of scar were seen at operative site. The histological observation: no obvious inflammatory reactions were seen in group A1, CS were gradually absorbed and completely absorbed at 6 weeks, while fibrosis of tissues increased at late stage. Inflammatory reactions in group A2 and group B1 were alleviated gradually, no obvious absorption and degradation were observed. The different two DBM could induce granulation tissues and bone formation at different sites and secondary fibrosis with no obvious immune response was observed. In group B2, there was an increase in collagen fiber density and angiogenesis at late stage. The scores of inflammatory infiltration were significantly higher in groups A2, B1 than in groups A1, B2 (P lt; 0.05), and the scores of fibrosis was larger in groups A1, A2 and B1 than in group B2 (P lt; 0.05). Conclusion CS has rapid dissolution and good biocompatibil ity. It is a good replaceable packing materials of bone defects in some upper l imb’s or acute bone fracture. Both of two DBM have biocompatibil ity and osteoinductive potential, which dissolution are very slow. Due to these capacity, they can be served as an ideal materials in treatment of lower l imb’s bone defect and nonunion.
The objective of this study is to combine troponin and indicators of cardiac acoustics for synthetically evaluating cardiac fatigue of rabbits, analyzing exercise-induced cardiac fatigue (EICF) and exercise-induced cardiac damage (EICD). New Zealand white rabbits were used to conduct a multi-step swimming experiments with load, reaching an exhaustive state for evaluating if the amplitude ratio of the first to second heart sound (S1/S2) and heart rate (HR) during the exhaustive exercise would decrease or not and if they would be recovered 24-48 h after exhaustive exercise. The experimental end point was to complete 3 times of exhaustions or death from exhaustion. Circulating troponin I (cTnI) were detected from all of the experimental rabbits at rest [(0.02±0.01) ng/mL], which, in general, indicated that there existed a physiological release of troponin. After the first exhaustive swim, cTnI of the rabbits increased. However, with 24-hour rest, S1/S2, HR, and cTnI of the tested rabbits all returned toward baseline levels, which meant that the experimental rabbits experienced a cardiac fatigue process. After repeated exhaustion, overloading phenomena were observed, which led to death in 3 out of 11 rabbits, indicating their cardiac damage; the troponin elevation under this condition could be interpreted by pathological release. Evaluation of myocardial damage can not be based on the troponin levels alone, but can only be based on a comprehensive analysis.
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of medical grade calcium sulfate(Osteoset) as a bone graft substitute. Methods From December 2004 to May 2005, 9 cases of bone defect(limb group)were repaired with Osteoset pellets; bone defect was caused by benign tumor inlimbs, including 3 cases of fibroma xanthomas in humerus(1 case) and acetabulum (2 cases), 2 cases of bone cysts in humerus(1) and radius(1), 1 case of nonossifying fibroma, 1 case of ossifying fibroma and 2 cases of osteofibrous dysplasia in femurs. Five cases of lumbar posterolateral fusion (spine group) were treated with Osteoset pellets as autograft volume expander, including 2 cases of lumbar spinal stenosis, 2 cases of lumbar spondylolisthesis and 1 case of lumbar spondylolysis. Radiological method was used to evaluate the repair effect of Osteoset pellets. Results The mean follow-up time was 6.2 months (3to 9 months). Osteoset pellets began to be absorbed after 1 to 3 months of operation, and were totally absorbed and replaced by osseous tissue after 4 to 6months. No local recurrence was detected in limb group and the function of limbs was normal. At 6 months after operation, all patients in spine group got bony fusion. Conclusion Medical grade calcium sulfate (Osteoset) isan ideal bone graft substitute with excellent bone repair effect.
