Objective To evaluate the effect of PNS on Idiopathic facial palsy. Methods A total of 86 cases of acute idiopathic facial paralysis were randomly divided into the treatment group (PNS group, 44 cases), and the control group (42 cases). The basis of the two groups included hormone therapy, B vitamins, anti-viral treatment, as well as acupuncture and physical therapy, both in the incidence of 7 days to give the treatment. House-Brackmann facial nerve function classification and evaluation were used to determine clinical efficacy; ENoG line was tested before and after treatment. Results Before H-B classification of facial nerve function, EnoG side of the latency and amplitude in the two groups were comparable. At 28 days after treatment, H-B scores for the treatment group and the control group were (2.33 ± 1.21) and (3.08 ± 1.35), respectively, and the two groups had significant differences (Plt;0.05); ENoG incubation period (2.46 ± 0.34) and amplitude (189 ± 67) of the treatment group were more than those of the control group; the incubation period (3.37 ± 0.49) and amplitude (131 ± 52) improved, and there were significant differences between the two groups (Plt;0.05). Comparison of efficacy of the two groups showed the total effective rate: 95.45% in the treatment group, 80.95% in the control group, and the efficacy of the treatment group was better than that of the control group (Plt;0.05). Conclusion Sanqi tongshu, B vitamins, anti-virus, such as the acupuncture and physical therapy for the treatment of acute idiopathic facial paralysis have significant effect.
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the diagnostic meaning of MRI in intraocular tumors. METHODS:Forty-six cases of confirmed intraocular tumors, including choroidal melanoma(20 cases),retinoblastoma(18 cases),Coats disease(6 cases)and choroidal hemangioma(2 cases),were studied with MRI and compared with ultrasonography and CT. RESULTS:In making discoveries about intraocular tumors, there were no sighificant difference between MRI and B-ultrasonography or CT (P>0.03,chi;2=1.0716)while there were highly statistic sighificance in dediding characters and position (P<0.01,deceding character chi;2=29.8314,positionchi;2=13.659)of them. CONCLUSION:Among the examinations to find out about the position, character and secondary pathological insults of in traocular tumors MRI might be more available than CT and ultrasonography. One eye each in 3 groups of 12 pigmented rabbits after bilateral vitrectomy received 0.5mg, 1mg or 2mg triamcinolone acetonide (TA), respectively. The fellow eye received only balance saline solution as control. Ophthalmoscopy and electroretinography were performed during 1 day to 38 days after vitrectomy and drug injection. Light and electronmicroscopic studies were done on the 28th day. The particles of drug were visible on day 28 in all TA-treated eyes. Administration of 0. 5rug and 1mg TA did not result in different changes in ERG b-wave amplitudes compared with those in control eyes(P>0. 05). There were significant elevations of ERG b-wave in 2mg TA eyes compared to the control eyes(Plt;0.05), Both ligbt and electronmicroscopy of the retina in these groups were almost normal. The results showed no Toxielties in TA treated eye up to 2mg after vitrectomy. This offers the experimental evidence as a baseline for combining TA with vitrectomy to reduce recurrence of proliferative vitreoretinopathy. (Chin J Ocul Fundus Dis,1996,12: 105- 107)
Purpose Observation on changes of choroidal circulation in 21 cases (42 eyes) of retinal dystrophies. Methods Fundus fluorescein angiography (ICGA) were used for comparartive analyses of the retinal and choroidal blood circulation of 21 cases (42 eyes) of retinal dystrophic diseases. Results The changes of choroidal circulation,i.e.slow perfusion or filling defects were observed in four kinds of retinal dystrophies. Conclusion ICGA may assist in providing valuable informations on choroidal circulation of retinal dystrophic diseases. (Chin J Ocul Fundus Dis,1998,14:88-91)
Objective Observation on the characteristics of choroidal melanomas with indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) and fundus fluorescsin angiography(FFA). Methods Both ICGA and FFA were used in 16 cases of choroidal melanoma for comparison and analysis. Results 81.2% of tumors showed hypofluorescence all the way or faint fluorescence in later stage.62.6% of tumors had characteristic intrinsic tumor vassels with ICGA,while 12.5% of tumors had intrinsic vessels with FFA.Those tumors that can't be diagnosed owing to whole hyperfluorescence in later stage with FFA may be diagnosed by visibility of intrinsic tumor vessels with ICGA. Conclusion ICGA is helpful in the diagnosis of choroidal melanoma. (Chin J Ocul Fundus Dis, 2000,16:3-5)
Purpose To investigate the effects of intervention with Tanakan on anterior ocular segment in diabetic retinopathy (DR) after retinal photocoagulation. Methods Prospective random controlled study was performed on 72 patients (72 eyes) with ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM),by obtaining and quantitatively analyzing the changes of anterior ocular segment including anterior chamber, anterior chamber angle, ciliary body and choroids before and the 3rd day and the 7th day after retinal photocoagulation. Results Three days after photocoagulation, significant elev ated IOP and narrowed chamber angle were observed in control group and 4 eyes (1 1.11%) in Tanakan group (Plt;0.01). Choroidal detachment in 32 eyes (88.89%) in control group and in 2 eyes (5.56%) in Tanakan group and the severity of ciliochoroidal detachment in tanakan group was significantly lower than that in control group. Conclusion Tanakan is effective to prevent the complications of anterior segment, such as ciliochoroidal detachment, elevation of IOP, narrowing of chamber angle occurring early after retinal photocoagulation and reduce the severity of ciliochoroidal detachment. Objective To investigate the effects of Hep-A and Hep-B on vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-induced breakdown of blood-retinal barrier. Methods The mice were subcutaneously injected vehicle, Hep-A or Hep-B 10 mg/kg twice a day for 5 days. Then, 1 μl of 10-6mol/L VEGF were intravitreous injected. After 6 hours, 13.7×104Bq/g3H-mannital were injected intraperitoneally. The mice were sacrificed and the retinas, lungs, kidneys were removed and examined for radioactivity. The result were analyzed using SPSS software to calculate and compare retina/lung and etina/kidney leakage ratio among groups of different treatment. Result The retina/lung and retina/kidney leakage ratio were 0.38±0.04 and 0.21±0.03 respectively in normal mice; increased significantly to 1.05±0.11 and 0.46±0.04 respectively in model mice, both Plt;0.01 compared to those in normal mice; decreased to 0.59±0.06 and 0.32±0.03 respectively in mice treated with Hep-A, both Plt;0.01 compared to those in model mice; decreased 0.54±0.04 and 0.35±0.03 in mice treated with Hep-B,both Plt;0.01 compared to those in model mice. Conclusion Hep-A and Hep-B can significantly reduce VEGF-induced breakdown of blood-retinal barrier in mice. Chin J Ocul Fundus Dis,2004,20:352-354)
ObjectiveTo evaluate the rationality of antibiotics use by analyzing the prescription reviewing results.MethodsThe review data of antibiotic prescriptions in Beijing Hospital was randomly selected from 2016 to 2019, from which unreasonable prescriptions and the antimicrobial agents were analyzed, and the use of antibiotics and unreasonable prescriptions annually were compared.ResultsThe evaluation of rational use of antibiotics involved 79 701 outpatient prescriptions from 2016 to 2019. There were 10 drugs in the top five irrational rates of outpatient antibiotics, primarily cephalosporin and quinolones, accounting for 50% and 30%, respectively. The primarily unreasonable problems were over prescription (common in gastroenterology and dermatology), unsuitable indications (common in otolaryngology), inappropriate usage and dosage (common in urology, dermatology and gastroenterology), and failure to write clinical diagnosis or incomplete clinical diagnosis (common in obstetrics and gynecology and general surgery). During the four years, the proportion of antibiotics prescriptions and the irrational rate decreased annually.ConclusionsThe use of antibiotics in outpatient department of Beijing Hospital has achieved initial results, however, there are still some problems. We should further strengthen the management of antibiotics usage, strengthen training and learning, and increase medical cooperation to promote rational drug use in clinic.
Objective Methods Ninety male Wister rats were randomly divided into normal control group, diabetic group and FTY720 group, thirty rats in each group. Diabetes was induced by giving a single intraperitoneal injection of streptozocin. FTY720 group was administered with FTY720 at a dose of 0.3 mg/kg by oral gavage daily for 3 months after establishment of diabetes. All rats were used for experiments following intervention for 3 months in FTY720 group. Immunohistochemical staining was used to observe the expression and distribution of intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM-1) and vascular cell adhesion molecule (VCAM-1), and the positive cells were counted. Real-time reverse transcription PCR was used to measure mRNA expression of ICAM-1 and VCAM-1. Fluorescein isothiocyanate-Concanavalin A perfusion was used to detect retinal leukocytes adhesion. Evans blue (EB) perfusion was used to analyze retinal vascular permeability. Immunofluorescence staining was used to detect retinal inflammatory cells infiltration. Results In diabetic group, both ICAM-1(t=12.81) and VCAM-1 (t=11.75) positive cells as well as their mRNA expression (t=16.14, 9.59) were increased compared with normal control group, with statistical significance (P < 0.05). In FTY720 group, both ICAM-1(t=-9.93) and VCAM-1 (t=-6.61) positive cells as well as their mRNA expression (t=-15.28, -6.10) were decreased compared with diabetic group, with statistical significance (P < 0.05). Retinal leukocytes adhesion (t=16.32) and EB permeability (t=17.83) were increased in diabetic group compared with normal control group, while they were decreased in FTY720 group compared with diabetic group(t=-9.93, -11.82),with statistical significance (P < 0.05). There were many CD45 positive leukocytes infiltration in retina of diabetic group, including CD11b positive macrophage/activated microglia, while both of them were little in FTY720 group. Conclusions FTY720 can decrease retinal leukocytes adhesion, reduce retinal vascular permeability and inflammatory cells infiltration, which is associated with down-regulation of ICAM-1 and VCAM-1.
Objective To verify the changes of optics and refraction of the eyes after retinal detachment surgery with the tamponade of silicone oil in vitreous cavity. Methods The optical calculation was taken as the following by using the parameter of Gullstrand model eye:(1)The refraction of silicone filled eye in non-accommodative status;(2)The refraction of silicone filled eye in non-accommodative status;(3)The aniseikonia analysis when one eye filled with the silicone oil;(4)The IOL power re-calculation. Results (1) Compa red with the normal eye,the eye filled with silicone oil is moved toward high hyperopia of +9.19 D;(2)When corrected, the accommodation amplitude reduced 1.42 D induced by filling silicone oil. Conclusion When eye filled with silicone oil,the change of refractive power tends to be highly hyperopic, the amplitude of accommodation decreased, and the regular IOL power calculation formula is no longer available.
