  • The Structure and Technical Research of Medical Information Interaction And Sharing Among Regions

The hospital information structure, which is made up of various medical business systems, is suffering from the problems of the "information isolated island". Medical business systems in the hospital are mutually isomerous and difficult to become a whole. How to realize the internal barrier-free interaction of the patients effective medical information in the hospital and further to complete the area sharing of patients longitudinal diagnosis and treatment information has become a question having to be solved urgently in the process of healthcare informatization. Based on the HL7 standard, this paper refers to the IHE technical framework, expounds the overall structure of the interaction in the hospital internal and area sharing of medical information with the medical information exchange platform. The paper also gives the details of the whole process of the complete display of the discrete patient health information using Portal technology, which is saved in the business systems in different hospitals. It interacts internally through the information exchange platform and at last stores the information in the regional cinical data repository (CDR).

  • Internet + digital intelligence empowerment: innovative practices in holistic management of rare diseases at West China Hospital of Sichuan University

Rare diseases are characterized by low incidence rates, complex etiologies, and multi-system involvement. In China, the patient population exceeds 20 million, who face challenges such as difficulty accessing medical care, obtaining accurate diagnoses, and managing their conditions. To address these challenges, West China Hospital of Sichuan University has developed a comprehensive “pre-diagnosis, diagnosis, and post-diagnosis” management model for rare diseases, with a focus on “internet plus digital intelligence empowerment”. This approach enhances accessibility in the pre-diagnosis phase, improves diagnostic efficiency during diagnosis, and achieves full-cycle management post-diagnosis, establishing a continuous care system that ensures “medical support beyond the hospital”. This article introduces the innovative exploration and practical experience of West China Hospital of Sichuan University in the holistic management of rare diseases, and provide a reference for its subsequent promotion.

  • Multilevel model and its application in evaluation of medicine policy intervention

With the establishment and development of regional healthcare big data platforms, regional healthcare big data is playing an increasingly important role in health policy program evaluations. Regional healthcare big data is usually structured hierarchically. Traditional statistical models have limitations in analyzing hierarchical data, and multilevel models are powerful statistical analysis tools for processing hierarchical data. This method has frequently been used by healthcare researchers overseas, however, it lacks application in China. This paper aimed to introduce the multilevel model and several common application scenarios in medicine policy evaluations. We expected to provide a methodological framework for medicine policy evaluation using regional healthcare big data or hierarchical data.

  • Importance of oral hygiene in ischemic stroke patients

Ischemic stroke can lead to disruption in the oral ecology and an overgrowth of pathogenic bacteria, resulting in periodontal disease. Meanwhile, the aspiration and pulmonary infection resulted from dysphagia can increase the unfavorable prognosis. Some studies have found that there exist oral bacteria in the thrombus in myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke patients, showing that oral flora might be associated with thrombus and stroke-associated pneumonia. There are few high quality clinical studies or evidence-based guidelines. Priority should be given to high quality research that provides oral care standards, and incorporating oral care into future stroke pathways to improve the prognosis.

  • Lean healthcare management in optimizing foreign hospital operating room service process

Objective To analyze the application of lean healthcare management in optimizing services in foreign operating rooms, and provide a theoretical reference for further optimizing service processes in domestic operating rooms with lean healthcare management. Methods PubMed and Web of Science databases were searched literature about lean healthcare management in optimizing foreign hospital operating room service process. The search period was from the establishment of databases to November 2024. The number of publications, publishing institutions, authors, citation frequencies, keywords, the use of lean management tools and the improvement status were analyzed. Results A total of 71 literatures were included. Among them, 17 literatures were published from 2008 to 2014, and the number of related literatures increased significantly since 2015, with 54 literatures published by 2024; 9 literatures were published by universities and 62 literatures were published by hospitals. In terms of the distribution of countries and regions where the literatures were published, there were 34 literatures from the United States, 12 from the United Kingdom, 5 from Italy, 4 from Switzerland, and 3 from Canada. The keywords basically presented the combination ofthemes related to operating room management and lean healthcare management improvement fields, such as lean six sigma, quality improvement, and operating room efficiency. The five lean tools with the highest frequency of occurrence in the 71 included literatures were value stream mapping, fishbone diagram, A3 report, PDCA cycle management, and 5S. Conclusions There is an imbalance in the development of lean healthcare management research, with the number of publications in developed countries being far higher than that in developing countries. Lean healthcare management is conducive to improving surgical safety, work efficiency, and patient-doctor satisfaction. Lean healthcare management should further adapt to the actual situation, unify the lean management indicators in operating rooms, conduct cross-departmental cooperation, maximize the effectiveness of lean improvement tools, and achieve modern medical management.

  • Application of nanocellulose in flexible sensors

The shortage of medical resources promotes medical treatment reform, and smart healthcare is a promising strategy to solve this problem. With the development of Internet, real-time health status is expected to be monitored at home by using flexible healthcare systems, which puts forward new demands on flexible substrates for sensors. Currently, the flexible substrates are mainly traditional petroleum-based polymers, which are not renewable. As a natural polymer, cellulose, owing to its wide range of sources, convenient processing, biodegradability and so on, is an ideal alternative. In this review, the application progress of nanocellulose in flexible sensors is summarized. The structure and the modification methods of cellulose and nanocellulose are introduced at first, and then the application of nanocellulose flexible sensors in real-time medical monitoring is summarized. Finally, the advantages and future challenges of nanocellulose in the field of flexible sensors are discussed.
